From the Flotilla Commander:

Please come to the Flotilla Meeting on March 12, 2007, 1900 hours, at the Metro Tech at the Airport. Please wear your uniform if possible. Tropical Blue Long (Short Sleeve, Shoulder Boards, Ribbons and Devices) or Undress Blue Winter (Long Sleeve, Tie, Devices, no Ribbons, no Shoulder Boards) Staff Officers please prepare a report for the meeting. Also send a copy of your report to your Division counterpart. Glede, Dwayne, Glenn, and Big John taught a Boat Oklahoma Class on March 3, 2007 with 20+ students. It’s starting! Bill, John W., and Glede attended the Division 16 meeting March 3.

Tragedy struck on March 1, 2007 when Diane Williams, age 57 passed away unexpectedly. Diane was the Engine which propelled our Division for the last 10 or more years. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with Bill and Krystal; Husband and daughter.

If you lack anything to be ready for operations in the next few weeks, please get it done now. I am talking about ICS classes, Nav Rules, Offer for Use forms etc… It’s time we get out on the water.

News from the Division:

Adam Gardner was awarded the Coast Guard Support Award by Lt. Commander Tierney for his exhaustive efforts at the Coast Guard Institute. Lt. Commander Tierney invited us all to participate at the Coast Guard Institute in OKC. I also visited with her about coming up with a CG unit in the Persian Gulf which we could pen pal with and support with a care package. Commander P.J. Maguire from Sector Lower Mississippi River praised our efforts in operations, and

all phases or recreational boating safety. He was impressed at our lengthy discussion and planning on the Boating Safety Classes. This really makes you want to get on some Working Blues and get out on patrol or sign up some more students. Good job folks.

There will be the regular Division Meeting on April 14 in Grove, OK

There will be two, USCG 10 person fast boats ( 25’ Defender Boats) at the Port of Catoosa on March 21st for inspection and patrols open to Auxiliary help. June 19,20,21, 2007 there will be a Mock disaster drill at the Port of Catoosa. The USCG would very much like our participation. Absolutely must wear proper uniform and meet grooming standards for either of these two Port of Catoosa exercises, or work at the CG Institute.

Contact Monty Penn, Liaison to Muskingum (Master Chief Mott) if you would like to help out at CG Station Sallisaw. This could include, Radio Watch, Crew, Cleaning, mowing, painting, cooking, window washing or whatever. There was a brief Memorial service for Diane Williams.

In the evening we, (Division attendees,) had dinner with Commander Maguire

at Spaghetti Warehouse. A real good time.

Don’t forget to turn in your hours.
